Awesome dude, I am glad to see another chef on here. I am still what I would consider a novice, but I hope to learn a lot and hone my skills more when I take it in college.

I'm nowhere near a chef, but I don't starve. In fact, I think I'm a pretty good cook, I just hate to do it. I like to have a recipe to start out, but I almost never stick to it.

I learned from my mom, just throw in whatever you think will taste good and is already handy in your kitchen.

lol yeah it's a great skill to have. Sometimes my friends joke around with me like, "man you are such a woman for wanting to be a chef", and I am like yeah, have fun with that hotpocket and ramen noodles...

Hey, there's nothing wrong with HotPockets. They're god's gift to the lazy cook.

Perhaps they're unaware that many of the top chefs in the world are men, hmmm? Escoffier, anyone?

My family laughs at me because a lot of times I'll forget to plan a menu, so I get home from work, and go into my fugue in front of the pantry... glazed eyes flicker over to the fridge as I envision the potential ingredients lurking therein... and then I make... something. No idea what you call it but it's usually good. And of course, I can't make it again because it was born of desperation and whatever is on hand and I can never remember what it was I threw a pinch of in to make it taste just right.

Now is this recipe for the sauce? ... Is it a GA style sauce? If yes, can I please have it too.. It sounds like how I make my steak marinade, "little of this, little of that... hmm that looks good!". BTW, Keesa if you are ever down by Columbus and you enjoy BBQ. You have to eat at Country's. One of the best in GA.

Well to me the key to great BBQ is the sauce.. I grew up eating at this place http://www.countrysbbq.com/ so guess I am partial. But everywhere I go I try thier style BBQ, and this one is still the best in my book. Plenty of other good ones, and the worst I ever had was in Virginia...BLAH In case you may never get to GA Veng.. you can atleast buy thier sauce online.

Wiz, I normally don't travel through Columbus, but maybe a road trip will offer the opportunity--we go camping when the weather permits and Kolomoki is one of our favorite haunts. I'll have to come up with some kind of excuse as I looooove good BBQ.

As for my sauce, well... I've lived in several regions of the Southern states, so my sauce is sort of an amalgamation. Tangy with a touch of mustard, like the Carolinas, sweet and smoky like Texas (the place I truly consider home), and eaten on onion rolls to pay homage to the fine state of Georgia. And I change it up a little depending on the palates of those who will be consuming it. But if you are familiar with Sonny's and other BBQ places then my base sauce is more like their red sauces than the brown ones.

Now, as for ribs... there is this place in Atlanta called Fat Matt's that is not to be believed. Half a rack, some slow-cooked baked beans, and a red pop (called Coke here in Georgia no matter what flavor it is)... they throw in the Wonder Bread for free. I have been known to appoint a designated driver for the trip home because really, a meal that fine deserves the honor of a nap immediately after consumption.

So Vengeance, when is that road trip?

I'm having a staring contest with an apple right now ... for some reason, it's talking and sounding a lot like my health concious girlfriend ... 'You know, you really should eat me ...'

Oh no ... THAT'S going to be taken the wrong way ... how do I keep doing that?

They ALLOW other sodas to be consumed in Georgia? I thought the state troopers patroled the highways and cracked down on Bootleggers?

'Whatcha got in the truck son?'
'Errr ... Pepsi?'
'Yep ... you know that bringing Pepsi across the Mason-Dixie line is bootleggin, don'tcha son?'

Conversations between you and an apple are never going to sound right. Just expect that right off the starting blocks.

As for bootlegged soda pop... they busted a Fanta ring here recently, and I'm not saying I'm on first-name basis with anyone involved, but my secret stash of grape soda is dwindling...

Let's see, for lunch... some kind of frozen dinner since payday isn't til next week... /sigh I left my grapes at home and ate all my caramel-corn flavored rice snacky things, too.
